Default Bakflip drain tubes

I am awaiting arrival of my 2015 F150, and was planning in going with the Backflip F1 bed cover. I have been researching and reading reviews on this product and all seem positive.

My question is this...It looks like the drain tubes will have to be directed out the black, oval "drain ports" at the front of the bed. Do these ports open, or do you have to drill into them? I haven't had a truck in a while as I have driven SUV lately. This will be first truck I have owned that have these ports.

I saw another post about the spray in bedliner covering their ports, so they had to drill through them.

But, if your bedliner does not cover them, is drilling still required?

Thanks for any help.

I just popped mine out and drilled them for my Undercover Flex. To remove and reinstall very easily.

I actually just drilled through both the linex and the plastic oval plate with a 7/8 speed bit. It was actually pretty easy and a clean hole.

Did you take them off first or do it with them on?

I just drilled right through mine & and bullet spray liner that was on top....no need to remove from the bed, there's plenty of space behind for the bit to stop before it hits the cab.

Did mine with them on. Used a Forstner bit on an angled down path. So the tube feed was tighter.

Sounds easy enough. Just curious, do do most aftermarket spray in bed liners spray over these ports. Will they not spray them if requested, or would that cause problems? If they didn't spray them, seems like you could just replace the rubber plugs at a future date if necessary.
