Bak Revolver X2 looks the best to me. After reading all the pages, I'll likely order one too.

I started in the Biz only selling Bak Covers. We have now expanded to ReTrax, Extang, Truxedo. From a design and price point of view there is no better cover on the market today. Please give us a chance to earn your business when you are ready to go. www.tonneaufactoryoutlet.com

I have had the X2 for a little over a month and I must say that I love it. Easy to install and very functional.

I am curious what people are putting on it to protect it from the weather?

We are recommending a product called 303 Auto Protectant. You can find it almost everywhere including Walmart. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...303+protectant

Can't beat 303... its great for way more than just covers... Use it on any rubber, vinyl, leather etc... Does wonders if you have a boat for the seats, etc as well...

I have the Revolver on my own truck and wouldn't use any other cover. I really love that it doesn't block the back window when its fully open and that you don't have to reach over the rails to release any panels. For shorter people(like ladies) that is a big plus.

The RevolverX2 is constructed with 100% aluminum except for marine grade vinyl covering. All BakFlips have foam core panels, block the rear window when open, and are more difficult to open. With the RevolverX2, you don't have to open the cover to allow the tailgate to close. I hope my observations help you with your final decision.

I've had mine since I got my 2105 Larry in April. I couldn't be happier.
I had mine installed. (~$1000 installed) I don't know anything about the shimming etc.

Can someone talk about the box some of you have mounted under the cover?
Cost? Quality? Removeability?

Yup, we just ordered a 2016 F150 and have lined up the spray in Line-X bed liner and will most likely get the Revolver before anything ever hit's the back of the truck.
I would consider a retractable unit except we plan to put a motorcycle or small side x side in the bed and the retractable canister just takes up to much space IN the box for me. The Revolver looks sturdy and can be out of the way with a motorcycle nudged up to the front.

Let me ask a question. We live in a motorhome and travel so it's far from being like the days when I had a shop. So my question is for those of you that have installed the Revolver. If you just had the minimal toolbox and a driveway to work in would you do the install yourself again or would it be worth $150 labor for a shop to do it?

It's easy to do yourself. All ya need is a socket and ratchet.
