Default Bad front shocks

I have a 19 Limited, 10k miles. No back roads or off roading, dealer told me both front struts (shocks?) are leaking oil. Anyone else having this type of problem?? The dealer is replacing them. It just seems strange both are leaking at such low mileage.

Factory shocks & struts on any vehicle suck. Likely one of the cheapest made parts on your truck. I'm not surprised.

I've heard of it happening, but I've never personally experienced premature (oem)shock/strut failure.

Had couple cheapo manroes be junk out the box but thats another story.

And the factory shocks/struts on the F150 in particular *really* suck.

While unlikely, you should see if the dealer would be willing to install aftermarket parts (you cover parts/they cover labor), for this reason:

That's a generalization that doesn't always apply, but it's definitely true in this case.

I had a dealer body shop install Bilstein 5100s in the front of my truck as compensation for screwing up some unrelated stuff, so it is possible.

I just put a Fox 2.0 setup on my brother’s Platinum last month and it had a leaking strut. His truck only has 36k on it too, so I agree with the others about factory shocks/struts being poor quality.

Had a front shock leaking on my 17 after 22k all road miles. Luckily was putting some Bilstien 5100 on anyway.

Just read a thread yesterday where a person with a limited is having factory shocks replaced under warranty (I believe on a Limited) because they too are leaking at low miles.

When I went to put the Bilstein 5100s on my 2018 both struts were already leaking at 30k miles. Who knows how long they’d been that way. Thankfully I found it as I was installing upgrades anyways.

what’s interesting was I had the oil changed just a week or so before and they didn’t even mention it.

Thats crazy they leak so early, we have tons of f150s at work, and we sure beat on them, none in my area with any suspension issues that we know of.
