I thought the backup warning tones come through the speakers. I wonder if it's like other notifications. For example, I'm able to adjust the volume of an incoming text, phone call, or direction when using nav by waiting for the notification to happen and then adjusting the volume up or down. Maybe back up to something to get the tones started and then select up or down to get the volume you want. I have no idea if this will work, but it could be worth a try.

Tested it this morning before I left for work and that's a no go. In the attempt to lower the volume, the radio lowered and it did sound like there was a separate speaker for the backup alert. I couldn't tell where it was coming from because I didn't have a second person to help. Sorry.
