Backup Sensor Shorting
So I have a 2018 Lariat with the 502A package, adaptive cruise, etc. and on slightly rainy days like today, one of my reverse sensors goes off continuously on reverse. I am assuming this is a short in the sensor itself, especially since it goes away when the truck drys out some. Anyone else had this problem? If I buy a replacement sensor from Amazon or a local auto store will I need to recalibrate anything or should it be plug and play?
My right one did the exact same thing. Got a replacement from Ford and swapped it myself. 10 minute job, plug and play. No calibration required. I will say I got mine straight from my local dealer because I didn't want to risk getting a counterfeit part. Plus, it wasn't unreasonably more expensive.
You may not wanna put dielectric grease directly in the connector, it should go around the outside of the male plug to seal out moisture. Dielectric grease is a non conductive grease, not good in the connector itself.
