Default Backup sensor fail

First off I love my truck, coming from an '08 the ride is amazing, just installed my subs a month ago, recently installed the tailgate damper, and last week I made my own drawer system.

Today I had something strange happen: in reverse my furthest left (driver side) back up sensor wouldn't stop ringing and was red on the display. We had a fair bit of snow today so I tried a few things: shifted in and out of reverse, turned the truck on and off nothing worked. Finally got home and parked in the underground, got behind and started feeling her up behind the bumper. Low and behold a little snow, mixed with salt and ice must have closed the contact.

Might head to the dealer and see if they can seal it better, or rubber tape and heat shrink it.

Hope this helps anyone else who has seen this issue.

I have had this issue when it was -20 (C for Canada). Thought it was just a frozen sensor so i never paid any attention to it. After a couple days it stopped and now works like normal. Same sensor as you, most left (Driver side.)

Probably something on the sensor. I've had that happen once after snow and I just wiped off the face of the sensor and it was good to go. No problem since.

My rear drivers side seems to act up in the cold too. Told the dealer about it and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Mines done the same in cold weather, once for over a day. Even after wiping them off to see if somethings blocking them. Between the glaring stuck backup alert sound I have to put up with, and frozen door latches Ford must of really tested the new trucks out in cold weather. I have owned Ford trucks for last 20 years and never had as many cold weather problems with stuff on a truck as this 2015 is doing.

I've had the Blind Spot sensor failure warning. Only when I was driving in heavy wet snow. If I stop and wipe all the sensors off it functions until they get covered again. Cold temps alone didn't cause an issue. The front camera gets covered but washing your windshield squirts water on the camera clearing it.

The cold will definitely make the wires expand and contract but shouldn't be enough to trigger a sensor. Don't think Ford would use a part that cheap. My electrical background says water, which is a conductor of electricity closed the contact. For me it's an easy fix.

Update: left the truck at the dealer for the day on Thursday, after 9 hours and no phone calls, I picked up the truck and all they did was replace the cover on the sensor. Fast forward to today: sensor went off like crazy last night for no reason, dropped the truck off this morning. They gave me a rental, called back 4 hours later and it's an electrical issue. Not the sensor. Apparently they hooked up the computer and got 8 codes coming up.

Not sure what that means but apparently I gotta pick up my truck, drop it off Tuesday for a few days while they trace the issue out.
