Hi all. I had an issue with my backup camera being really blurry so I bit the bullet and bought a new one from the dealership and plugged it in. Only problem is this is what the screen looks like when I turn the truck on.
If I turn the truck on and unplug the camera then plug it back in while the truck is still on it works and i can see everything, but as soon as i turn the truck off and back on the camera shows these lines again. Do i have to reprogram something or is there an easy reset for the new camera?
Not sure if this is helpful or not but... I just installed a camera in my truck this weekend, when activating I had a similar issue. Turns out my battery was about to expire. It had enough juice to power the lights and sync 3 screen initially, after messing with it for a bit the truck would then not start. Replaced the battery and everything works fine now. Throw a multimeter on the battery and see what voltage you have. My truck is a 2016 and has 33k on it. I was surprised not to see more of a gradual decline in electrical performance but these trucks have so many electrical components they are sensitive to a weak battery.
I had/have an issue like this but it is intermittent. Does your new camera never work?
I guess when you install cameras they’re not plug and play they have to be programmed and calibrated. I used forescan to program the new camera so now all the functions work, however, I have to get the dealer to calibrate it cause the 360 view is skewed. The backup lines and everything are straight, I don’t know if the back up trailer assist will be off though I’ll be testing that this weekend. Luckily the dealer said the calibration will cost $104, I was expecting a lot more.
