Bilstein 5100’s verses leveling kits
So I choose to use the Bilstein 5100’s to raise my truck. I have them set to the max height of 2.10”. After 20,000 miles, I think I am going to pull and set them to 0” lift and add a leveling kit to the front. With the Bilsteins set at full lift with my FX4 springs, the ride is just to harsh as the spring is compressed 2” more than from factory. With the leveling kit, the ride should be close to factory. Would love to hear head back from others that went with the Bilsteins at max lift.

by raising the lower perch you are decreasing the distance between the top hat and perch. 5100’s lift by increasing spring preload. I think it’s less than 2” though between all of the clip settings

last time I checked the 5100s did not compress the spring at all to lift the vehicle. but spacers will definitely compress the springs to get the same basic amount of lift.

Depends on which version of the 5100's you have. They changed the design slightly last year. The newer version is for 0 lift, 1 inch of lift, or 2 inches of lift. Older version was 1 inch to 2.1 inches.

There are a few threads on the 04-08 section about people putting the 5100's at the lowest setting and adding a spacer. The people that did it said it improved the ride.
