Default Back Up Sensor - Constant Beep

My rear backup sensor just started to act up. We’ve had some heavy rain the last few days and I had the truck parked on my street, that has a slight decline. When I go into reverse the beep stays on solid and on the middle screen it shows an obstruction on the rear passenger side of the truck, with the tail light illuminated.

When I checked under the truck, the wiring was very wet. So, I’m assuming that there is probably water in the connection creating a short? The other sensors are working fine.

Thoughts appreciated.

Chris

I just searched this yesterday and didn't find a definitive answer. My outer sensors do this often. I put dielectric grease in all of the connectors and that didn't help. Today I checked the sensors because it's been snowing here, they were all clean but both of my outer sensors were showing red on the display.

Probably water intrusion into the sensor housing. This happens to mine whenever I wash it in the winter and the water freezes inside the sensor. Doesn't go away unless the temperatures warm up, or sometimes if we have enough clear days I can park the truck with the sensors facing the sun so the ice can sublime.

Try a hair dryer on the sensor for a few minutes and see if it drives the water out. You could use a heat gun but be very careful with your distance so you don't melt the thing.

Happens to me occasionally on my passenger side outer sensor when my truck has been sitting in the rain and I first get in. Usually goes away after driving after driving a bit. I got rear ended awhile back and was thinking that might have damaged the sensor but it sounds like this might be a common issue... I may still just replace that sensor since it's only ever been that one.

I had the same issue, they replaced one of the sensors under warranty. No problem since. It was the seal on the sensor allowing water to get inside.

Mine does this sometimes as well. It also gives a lot of false alerts like a vehicle is coming from the right but nothing is there.

Rain hangs on the sensor on the bumper. I had the sensor replaced but still does it randomly when it rains. I just ignore it

I thought that's what it was at first as well, but it didn't happen at all the first year or so. I've also wiped off the sensor and it made no difference, plus that wouldn't explain why only one, and always the same one, does it. It's definitely a sensor and/or wiring issue.

I was messing around and hit the sensor with canned air to blow out the water and it stopped temporarily
