Default B&O sound system

I have a 2018 Ford F150 Platinum with the B&O sound system 3.5 ecoboost. First thing I noticed when I got the truck was the system was not as good as the Sony I've had in previous models. I have read that if you turn off the fake engine noise the speakers sound a lot better. I had to borrow my friend's Expedition 2019 that's a 5. 0, his B&O system sounds great. Has anyone turned off the fake engine noise and noticed better stereo sound?

Do you have surround mode on? It sounds like a pos w/o that on. I have it in my 19 5.0 Platinum, and I can def say it sounds quite better than Sony previously or any F150 had before. It also sounds way better than the reg B&O in the 21+.

When I bought my truck new I actually thought something was wrong on the drive back (out of state), took me a few days to realize in settings surround was off.

In my opinion activating surround mode isn't going make much of a difference, but it wont make it any worse. The factory amp/ whole stereo is tuned so you have a quieter interior, you think you have a V8, and you don't blow the crap factory B&O speakers. You'll always have massive bass roll off to the sub when you turn up the volume and the front door speakers will receive much more power than the rear. The center channel speaker is also pretty useless. Its a combination of the factory equalizer and fake engine growl / active noise cancellation. The whole system is isn't optimal for someone that wants high quality audio. You can replace speakers and get a slightly better outcome but you're still going to have all of these factors affecting what you actually want to hear, the music.

Having said all of that, the stock B&O is an ok listening experience for most especially when compared to the non-B&O systems.

To beat the factory EQ and achieve better sound you need to replace the factory amp and beat the factory equalizer. This would require a new amp, speakers all around to your preference, and an amp interface module to retain the factory functions such as door chimes, warning chimes, etc.

I miss the B&O system from my 2020. The 2020 B&O was impressive for a stock system in a pickup trick. The 2023 8-speaker B&O is only marginally above average.

I never turned off the fake engine noise in my 2020 3.5 and the B&O sounded great to me.

I feel like the audiophile systems out of the eleventh gen trucks sounds better than the B&O system, especially when it comes to bass output.

The B&O really is what I would consider a base sound system for a truck with this price point. The stock system is very underwhelming.

The B&O in my 2019 F150 is far better than the B&O in my 2019 Mustang GT. I am happy with it. The shaker 500 in my 2011 GT500 is better than both. Surround sound is a stupid option in cars IMO. Especially tight cabins like the Mustang.

I will say at 62 most of my left hearing is half shot and highest frequencies allude me. Too many concerts, guns, drag strips and open headers. Younger ears can be a better judge of sound quality IMO.

when reading through this thread, I was thinking the same thing. My audiophile system in my 08 rocked ! It only had 5 speakers.
