Default Axle issues

After local shop did an oil change they noticed my front right axle was slinging grease. This was replaced under warranty.
I've had a grinding noise and slight vibration (not enough to notice in the wheel but can feel a little from the left side) from my front left axle. I think it's going to need to be replaced as well... out of warranty.

Anyone else on the forum have axle issues like this? 38K miles... I don't drive the truck hard either to cause any issues... all city/highway miles.

Shouldn't this be covered under the 5/60,000 powertrain warranty?

Probably not. I think engine oil has to touch the part to be covered under that. So even the transmission may not be covered. At least that's what I've been told. It sucks and it's BS and there are people who probably have fought it and won.

Not engine oil, but any oil based fluid, which includes transmission fluid and gear oil....those are all part of the power train and covered up to 60k miles.

That's my same thought. When I got the first replaced under warranty the service manager told me it was $700 to replace.
I'm going to take it back to the same guy and see what he can do.

Took my 18 in for the first oil change at about 4400 miles 2 weeks ago. The tech reported finding a large amount of oil on the rear tire. I was shocked as I hadn't noticed any signs of a leak on garage floor. It turned out to be a bad rear axle seal and the dealer completed the warranty work. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this for any further issues.

Got my truck back yesterday, they replaced the check valve for my 4WD system and it was covered under warranty.

I was driving for my lunch break and heard the noise return though. I didn’t hear it on my ~30 minute drive to work. You can feel the rubbing in the brake pedal as well. Rotors and pads were just replaced so it isn’t that.
