I saw a documentary a little while ago about just how big the counterfeit parts issue was for aircraft. In fact, they said it is so widespread that there have been counterfeit parts that have made it all the way to being installed on Air Force One. A huge issue everywhere where people try to jump on the backs of those that worked hard to build up trust in their quality and brand and someone else steals it. We need much stiffer penalties for stuff like this.

All well and good, and yes, there are obvious counterfeits, does anyone know how to spot a counterfeit FL500? I have had a couple from amazon and i normally give them a good once-over, but haven't seen anything.

Or maybe we just ban buying anything at all from the one or two... or one... country that is responsible for the counterfeits?

its not just Amazon, The China knock offs are everywhere, We had grade 8 hardware that failed, which in my business is serious,
Upon further investigation we found our suppliers had inferior crap all marked as OEM style but when we did the stress test found they did not even come close,
Taking a closer look them we noticed the slight differences from the real stuff, but it was a real task trying to purge the garbage out of the stock bins.
we now do 100% QC on our hardware we order in from any supplier.

I gotta say...with all due respect...this forum is full of truck owners more than happy to be buying cheap **** crap Chinese parts and knock offs for their trucks.
I commented on the Vland headlights once from China and why not buy the official oem Ford ones that actually work and don't leak?

Sometimes there's no choice...stuff just comes from China...but built to the north american specs such as Ford.

Don't blame Amazon, blame the lack of government oversight. These vendors should not be allowed to sell counterfeit items online for import.

You can't have your cake and eat it too!

Bezo does and makes $13.4 million an hour, $222,884 a minute, and $3,715 a second this year (actually in 2020). Keep on buying off Amazon

Now back on topic -so I don't derail this one. Just found it ironic.

Just buy em at the parts store or Wal-mart.

Actually Bezos makes most of his coin running software development and cloud based systems for the big boys(girls) like google, facebook, etc.
He's also trying to compete now with Elon Musk over the Starlink type internet system. Selling stuff online has become a secondary...
(I have Starlink...LOVE IT!)
I'm always about quality and function first...price and cost second. Probably because i'm older and wiser...

I have contacted Amazon several times because I received cheap-*** junk from china that I interpreted as coming from north america.
They always gave me my money back no questions asked...and I'm sure they got right on addressing my concerns!

This is a problem for all car parts. You can almost build an entire vehicle from counterfeit parts. People need to be very careful when buying online. I always stick to reputable websites like Rockauto.
