Default Automatic headlights

Hey everyone. I recently bought some LED bulbs (
Amazon Amazon
) and they are great but I'm running into an issue that I can't figure out. My passenger side headlight comes on then turns off right away when switched to automatic lights. Kinda like the sensor is in the sunlight but the drivers side remains on. When the switch is turned to the on position I have no problems.

Any ideas?

I haven't checked it at night. I'll be doing it tonight to see. I'm noticing this in my shaded driveway. So I guess, either the passenger side is turning off when it shouldn't or the drivers side is staying on when it shouldn't.

If this is doing it during the day, even in shade, it's the driverside coming on that's the problem.

Any ideas on what could cause that to happen then?

My guess is a BCM issue. There is only one light sensor so its not that you are partially in shade. The BCM monitors the headlamp switch. When it senses that the headlamp switch is requesting the headlamps, the BCM turns both headlamps on.

The following is from the WSM:

Autolamps

The BCM monitors the light sensor with a voltage signal. The light sensor input to the BCM varies with the ambient light conditions.

The BCM monitors the headlamp switch circuits to indicate the headlamp switch position.

When the BCM receives a headlamp switch status indicating a request for the autolamps, the BCM monitors the light sensor for the ambient light condition. If the BCM determines the ambient light level is dark, the BCM supplies voltage to the exterior lamps.

I have "standard" bulbs and daytime running lights, which seem to be the same bulb but working at a reduced voltage. LED lamps are very sensitive to voltage perhaps that is your issue and why when turned "on" with the rotary **** you have no trouble but during daylight hours in "auto" the truck wants to use them as daytime running lights. You might be just at that "operating boundary" That's my best guess Next!!!

Easy to test Mike's thought. Swap bulbs left to right.

So, tested now in the night and everything works as advertised. I believe you guys are correct in saying the drivers side is the problem. Tomorrow in the daylight I'll check again and see if the headlight icon is on the dashboard. If it's off and the drivers side is still on then I know for sure that the issue.

Are you sure it's not the daytime running lights that are the problem and not the automatic headlights?
If DRL's are enabled, you get low voltage on the low beams and most LED's have a voltage range they need to turn on, not sure what yours might be....and also with most you either get off or on, not dim unless you have an additional driver or something.

When dark the low beams are switched to full voltage for automatic headlights, headlight icon comes on. When light they switch back to low voltage for DRL's, headlight icon goes out.
I turned my DRL's off in the dash menu after installing the LED"s. Didn't know if they'd function or not and didn't bother testing.
With forscan you can switch your DRL's to fogs or other lamps if you want to retain the function.
