Default Auto Stop Strangeness

I made a horseshoe turn into a parking space (perfect parking job if I do say so myself btw) and put the tranny in park. I then noticed the engine was not running. I looked at the dash and saw the auto stop icon lit up. I also noticed that my steering wheel was cranked to the left from the perfect parking turn I just made.

In neither of those conditions should auto stop engage or continue to be engaged.

I stepped on the gas pedal and the rpm's came back up to normal idle.

Not that concerned, just more confused I guess.

The Lariat that I should pick up next week does not have Auto Stop feature I don't believe. I did test drive one with a 2.7EB and it had the feature turned on. It would be hard for me to get used to I think but if it saves gas and gas = $$$$ I would be inclined to utilize it.

So my WAG is that either you were stopped just long enough that it thought you were at a traffic signal or... It cannot tell the difference I am sure but it seems I remember that it was fairly quick to stop the engine when I came to a complete stop.

You did such a perfect turn and stop that it passed out on you! LOL If you push the peal harder it is more likely to shut off. A light touch doesn't always activate it.

You are partially correct. With the wheel turned as hard as it was to the left, it should not have engaged. I can sit at stop light with it engaged and turn the wheel and it will disengage.

I've only had my truck for a couple of days and this auto-stop "feature" is the only thing that I really don't like. I've already started disabling it with the push button every time I start the engine. Mine seems to shut off almost the instant I come to a stop, and the restart isn't always smooth. I'd like the engine to already be running when I hit the gas. Also, from what I have read, the gas savings are negligible. I saw another post showing how to permanently engage the off button using a jumper wire. I may try doing that this weekend.

I have a parking laser on ceiling to help stop in exact location every time so garage door misses rear while closing. If i come to a stop so i can ease up till light is in right spot sometimes engine shuts off. Sometimes it is a little confusing as well as annoying.
