Default Auto/Stop **Error** Violently slams into gear

2017/XLT/302a/3.5.

Issue: Over the past two days, when my truck stops at a light, the auto/stop feature engages and turns the engine off. When the light turns green, I lift my foot off the brake to apply the gas, when doing so (before I touch the gas pedal) the truck slams into gear so violently that I thought I got rear-ended. Also, it is so violent I almost rear-ended the person in front of me as it completely surprised me. This issue occurred three times in a row yesterday. After the third error, the truck showed an error similar to when you put the truck in drive, and you still have the emergency parking brake applied (same chime/message). However, the color was orange (instead of red) and said auto/stop error-disabled. This morning it did it again - however, the truck disabled the feature with NO warning chime. At least I didn't have to experience it three times in a row before it is disabled. I am attempting to get this on video (while in an empty parking lot) to show Ford.

Thoughts? I searched the forum but most issues that were similar appeared to occur when driving on the highway (downshifting). Thanks.

Never heard this before. At least not as violent as you describe. Take it to the dealer and I would buy the Auto Stop Eliminator.

Before the light changes, relax the foot, but don't release the brake. Chances are when you take your foot completely off, the starting of the engine is causing the surge. Mine will move just a bit with the brake applied when it starts at times.

Thanks for the suggestion. Tried it this morning and it does help; however, it doesn’t eliminate the jolt. Goes from feeling rear ended to the feeling of popping the clutch of a manual. Again, trying to get it on video for the dealer before the dealership tells me there’s nothing wrong. Had this truck for two years and not one issue.

You recommend this over forscan? I’ve bought the item just to get rid of the auto start stop.

It could be that the pump that keeps the transmission pressure up so that this doesn't happen may be defective. However, I thought that auto stop was disabled if this pump was not functioning.

Same thought as mikeywv, there is an electric transmission pump that keeps fluid pressure up when auto stop is in effect. Maybe the pump, the pressure or some related sensor.

I did it forscan way along with many other changes---but unplugging that connector does the same thing....

I disabled mine by disconnecting the plug by the brake pedal for the trailer something or other. I have noticed that when I stop a red light, the Auto Off icon pops up, grayed out of course, since the system is disabled but if I release brake pedal slightly, the icon goes away. I can make it pop up again just by pressing a little harder on the brake once more.
