I have a 2018 V8 5.0L with about 50,000 miles. Just finished paying about $2,000 in maintenance that included new fluids, brakes, tires, spark plugs, and new battery. A few days after all that, I recently noticed that the auto start-stop feature hasn't been working when I stop at a stoplight - not that I'm complaining or anything (never really liked that feature in the first place). . . but it makes me wonder if there's an underlying issue. I navigated to the trip/fuel setting on the dash and it says something like "engine on due to charging". I have a brand new battery. I've been doing a lot of short local trips over the past month - could it be that the battery just doesn't get enough continuous run time to power the auto start-stop? I'm not noticing anything else other than this. The truck starts just fine, no other observable electrical issues, nothing else.
Resetting the BMS . . . . is this something that can be done by an average Joe like me?
You need FORScan or a dealer (or someone with access to IDS) to do it. People will offer all sorts of DIY solutions, but none of them actually have been proven to work.
Even new batteries are not at full charge. Have you put a charger on the battery and made sure it is fully charged? Charging the battery solves many Auto-Start-Stop issues.
your owners manual should give you directions to reset the BMS. but its odd that the auto start stop suddenly stopped working, and not right after replacing the battery

The Owners Manual discusses learning the SOC (State of Charge) of the battery after jump starting or other battery issues. This is not the same as resetting the BMS. There are dozens of threads on this subject.
I had the same issue. I took it to the dealer for another issue and asked them to check it out. My battery had a bad cell according to them. 2018 3.5 with 35k at the time.
Take a look at the negative terminal on the battery and see if the circled connector is plugged in. That is the BMS connector. I intentionally unplugged mine to disable auto start/stop.
If that is not unplugged I would do as dougg said and do a full charge on the battery and see what it does.
