From what we are seeing on battery failures, it would probably improve the chances of a dead battery not happening. Have mine disconnected, almost a year and no issues. During that time, there has never been any issues develop with starting, cranking or anything else. I think the primary purpose of the Neg batter wire is to tell the *** system that the battery has sufficient charge to perform the next start cycle. Other than that, I can tell you that when my truck was left for weeks at a time, with the battery wire disconnected, the truck still went into sleep mode at three weeks as its supposed to.

Again, no adverse effects at all so far on mine.

I did the jumper wire on the switch as noted by Ward2018 above.
Been that way for 60k+ miles with no issue.

If you have any mechanical aptitude, ..., find that video on Youtube & go that route.

Is this the video where they use a scotch lock to cross 2 wires? Or is it some other video?
Wish you guys would include the video it's so easy to do.

The autostop eliminator is the elegant solution that still allows you to have auto stop easily re-enabled by just pushing the button. Always good to keep all options open. His new unit that plugs in is as simple as you can possibly expect to get. Works flawlessly.

I can also tell you how to keep your locks from freezing too without Ford's misguided efforts, but that is a whole other thread.
I can show you how to keep your passenger side carpet dry when Ford can't also.

This generation of F-150 requires a little tweaking after leaving the factory to get things right.

I used Forscan to disable it. Not sure why you would use any other way.

spends $40k on a truck and removes wires, cut wires, and puts a shotty jumper wire in to trick the truck.

Or spend a tiny amount of money to have a direct plug and play option that is built properly and that still allows the user to turn it on and off at their leisure.

you should make a thread and post all your tweaks.

Put the Autostop eliminator in my truck the week I bought it and never looked back. My wife's V-dub has the little wire on the negative terminal (no autostop available for VW) and I unplugged that a year ago and no issues other than the 'Autostop error' on startup. We both have turbos and in my opinion, coming off the highway when the turbos are red hot and having the oil and/or coolant shut off to them at the light on the offramp cannot be good for them. This is my opinion as I am not a mechanical engineer. What I do know for sure though is a bit of fuel and/or maybe a battery is definitely cheaper than a turbo!
