Default Auto Lock?

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question. But when the smart key is in your pocket and you walk AWAY from the truck, isn't it supposed to lock and give some kind of indication it locked? I swore it locked last night as when I came back from store, I recall the truck was locked and I didn't do anything. However I am in the office, ran out to my truck and its unlocked

The truck won't lock by itself. Did you maybe touch the black sensor on the door handle when you went to the store? When you touch the senor, the doors will lock.

Probably . Odd that it won't auto lock. All my Mazda's lock when key is out of range.

Thanks!

I don't have my truck yet, but I was actually playing around with a new Lariat a few days ago at the dealership I ordered from. I had to burn some time waiting for my Explorer at the service department so my salesman gave me the fob for the Lariat. It didn't auto lock when I walked away from the truck. I wish the truck did have that feature. I was playing around with all the settings so I believe the auto lock feature is when you start driving and the doors automatically lock. Other than hitting the lock button, the only other way I saw was to touch the black sensor on the handle after you exit the truck and close the doors.

You can lock with key fob, door panel inside, door code on outside, touching black button on door handle or simple placing your hand on the inside of the door handle. Lots of options.

One caution: If you wrap your hand around the handle AND touch the black button it will lock then immediately unlock. You have to be careful to activate one or the other but not both at the same time.

Now I know why it is doing that. Thanks!

There is a delay after locking via that button so you can pull handle to ensure its locked.

If you're driving and get above 12 MPH and have the auto-lock feature on it will.

It won't lock automatically when you're parked and walk away from the vehicle.

I've unlocked the doors, opened the rear, unloaded, shut door, carried into my house, came back, and doors are locked. Has happened every time I've done this.
