Default Auto Dimming Headlight issue

Did some forum searches on this but didn't have much luck finding an answer to my issue. My truck is the lariat crew with the 502A package. Up until this morning the auto headlight dimming feature seemed to work flawless. As soon as I could see headlights coming it was dimming, and was just about as responsive when coming up behind someone. This morning, I noticed that it wasn't dimming for oncoming traffic, so I did it manually. It would even put the high beams back on after I dimmed them while the vehicle was still approaching. Then I came up on a guy ahead of me and basically got the same thing. I dimmed then they came back on, after flashing the guy about three times, I pulled over and disabled it. Anyone else experience this? Is there something I can adjust or reset, or is it a service call. Thanks in advance Jim

Are you referring to the high-beam dimming control? Any chance that there is something obscuring the camera in the upper windshield - dirt, bird poop, fog, etc?

Yes, high beam dimmer control. I checked the windshield when I arrived at work and saw nothing out of the ordinary. I will give the camera a look when I get home.

Mine is the same. At first, it was great. But now it doesn't seem to respond as fast. Many times, I would have to override it. I just turned it off in the menu.

I probably wouldn't even consider taking it in for this issue, but on the second day I had the truck the sunglass compartment fell completely out of the upper console. Apparently they have to replace the entire console, I was thinking beings they have to remove the console, might be a good time to check out the dimmer control.

Mine works well on less well-lit roads, like in mountain passes. When I have it on in areas like my suburban neighborhood, I think it gets fooled too much and isn't reliable. I also just turn it off completely. I feel bad when it blasts oncoming drivers for no reason.

I've never been able to trust mine 100%. Here's what I do. Open the menu and highlight the auto hi-beam setting. Just drive around with it on that screen with it hilighted. If they don't turn off well for you just hit the OK button with your left thumb that way it avoids the auto turn back on you get when you click them off with the light stalk. When the car passes hit OK again and back on they go.

Mine has been reliable for 99% of the time in my 22k miles so far. Great feature.

It seems to be at half-light i.e sun going down/not quite dark or sun coming up/not quite light that it is not totally accurate in my experience

Just a tip.... if you have your headlight switch rotated to the AUTO position and the auto-high beams enabled..... simply rotate the headlight switch back 1 position (to the manual ON position) and the auto-high beam feature is also disabled. Saves scrolling through the menus while driving or pulling over to do so.

So far, I don't like mine very much. Always on/off/on/off going through town with enough distance between street lamps. And on the highways, where one lane is elevate more than the other, it also seems to like to either flash the on-coming traffic or blind them. And when passing a vehicle, it seems to switch to HIGH too soon for my liking (seems to be as soon as the other vehicle's taillights are past the front of my truck) that the high beams blast the driver in the vehicle I'm passing.

Thought it was a neat feature..... but turned off now on my truck. With some better tech and better programming, it might be something worth using. But not as it is now ... for me at least
