Has anyone attempted to upgrade the stereo system in there 2017 f150 from the sony system? Just got back from a massive quote being told that because of the way the system is tuned, replacing components will not help with the sound quality and if anything will make it worst. I need it either properly tuned and a device called a JL fix?

thanks texas. Quick question though, Im not looking to go with some massive install with amplifier installs, I was mostly just looking for a simple swap old components out with higher quality ones. Will this have any effect on the sound of the stereo ( in a positive way) or is it a must to go with a expensive fix that involves everything you posted in that forum link?

Get good speakers and replace the crap paper ones from factory, then start building from there.

ok so in other words theres no harm in buying some good aftermarket speakers now and replacing the crap paper sony ones in the system?
Just trying to figure this out because when I went to a local shop they told me doing this will net me a negative effect to my stereo and then proceeded to go with what you got going on in that forum post except they quoted me on a Fix82? why they would go that route instead of the fix86 i have no idea

A fix82 is 8 channel in, two out; fix 86 is 8 in, 4 out. Sounds like the shop you went to want to sell stuff without actually researching. Skip them.
Put good speakers, high sensitivity like I mentioned and you'll extract the most out of the sony amp while you get ready to do a full build. The Fix 86 comes after the twk, you have to have the twk (or lc8i) for you to normalize the input/ouput of the crap sony dsp/amp, then send it to the fix to re-eq and dsp it. A fix 86 lets you keep fade and balance from stock controls, the 82 loses you fader.

Well I'm a JL ***** as you can tell (no, not sponsored, I just love them). Depends on how much you want to spend. You can get very esoteric, i.e. pricy (Focal, Morel, etc), or go mid level like JL CS2/CS3. From what Ive read folks here have used Polk and rave about them. I'd suggest you search the audio subforum since there are TONS of threads on this subject.
