Default artificial engine noise

Was just reading an article about artificial and speaker amplified engine noise on the 15 eecoboost, anyone with the eco have this? How noticible is it?

On multiple occasions i have driven both the V8 without the fake noise and the Eco with the fake engine noise and they sound exactly the same. The only difference is that in the v8 you can feel more of the low rumble on your seat and the sound originates from behind the cab (from the exhaust). The Eco (3.5) sounds the same as the v8, except the sound seems to come from in front of the cab and you can't actually feel it in your seat. I probably have taken 15 test drives (no joke) trying to decide if I want the v8 or Eco 3.5. I have decided for the eco 3.5 because it has noticeably more low end torque than the v8. When you push on the v8 gas peddle it immediately downshifts causing delay in acceleration. The Eco does not have this issue. I was quite surprised at how much more powerful the Eco was compared to the v8! I know that's more than you asked for! Hope that helps!

There have been umpteen posts on this subject, as a search of the site will show.

Youtube video shows the difference.

It really baffles me why Ford would do such a thing...

I don't know how anyone could think this is a cool feature. I find it rather embarrassing...

That is the simple solution to this. End of story.

If you want to experience the difference for yourself rather than relying on the opinions in this forum (and the misinformation like the video posted in this thread - there is no noise cancellation in the F150 despite what any video or post on this forum states) you could test drive an XLT and a Platinum (or King Ranch) 3.5L EcoBoost back to back. The XLT does not have the enhanced sound, the Platinum and King Ranch (and some Lariats) do have it.

I owned a 2011 SCrew with the 3.5 EB. Absolutely love the EB. Every chance I get there's either a 4500# boat or a 6500# camp trailer behind my truck and the 3.5 is an awesome pulling motor.

My only complaint about the 2011 was that it sounded like a Camry. Others claim to like the sound of the turbos spinning up, I don't. In fact at about 25,000 miles it started to have an obnoxious (to me) whirring sound when the turbos kicked in.

I like the fake V-8 sound of my 2015 and it is not noticeable to anybody who hasn't been told its not actually the truck. They just think the truck sounds like a truck should sound.

So, I'm not embarrassed, but happy Ford addressed the one complaint I had with my 2011 EB. That said, I do agree that it should be easy to turn-on or turn-off. Just my
