Default APIM Qustions

Looks like I am in the market for a new sync 3 apim, my qustion is I have navigation currently but never use it always use android auto and I noticed on ebay they are much cheaper if I don't need the nav was hopeing someone could confirm that I can get the non nav apim and it will work with a truck that has navigation. And any one have a link on how to reprogram it using forscan.
Thanks in advance!

Why do you need a new APIM?

Mine is doing the same **** and I am out of warranty. There is another thread with a bunch of good info on the subject. A few people recommended this guy on ebay
https://www.ebay.com/itm/292915377387

I just purchased one from him to replace mine and I am not even going to bother with the dealership that wants $110 just to diagnose the issue.

Keep your APIM if everything else is working fine. Use Forscan and turn off NAV. Hell, your dealer can do it if you don't want to use Forscan. All you change is a line. 7DO-01-02 X0XX XXXX XXXX

Looks like a new APIM is in your future. Thing is, it's an easy swap. Phillips screw driver, thin molding pry tool and 7mm sockets are about it.

If the truck comes with navigation stock will I be able to buy the non navigation apim and use that without navigation, I only use android auto for nav so if I can save a few hundred and not have nav that alright with me as long as it works.

Yes, you can use a non-nav APIM. Of course you'll lose the Ford nav, but if you don't use it it's no loss.

I actually have a non-nav APIM on a shelf here. Was sold to me by someone on ebay who claimed it was a Nav unit. I'd been holding it in reserve in case my APIM died, so I didn't check the part number right away. Grr.
