Anyone try a cheap made in China brake controller ?
I see lots of them on ebay and they look just like the in dash factory units.
Do they actually work ?
I really don't tow a large trailer very often so it would be rarely if ever used.
Sorry if this has already been discussed but I could not find it if so.
Thanks.

I was wondering this myself. They look just like OEM. I wonder if the buttons have factory backlighting etc (are the factory ones even backlit? the +/-)

Well today almost everything is made in China. There can be some good stuff and crap. As an example I ordered
Laser Chamber Boresighters from ebay that cost $5 but if I went to a local store there $50 for the same item retagged.

Not really looking to cheap out, money really is no issue.
I was just wondering if it was really the same thing in a different package.

I didn't do a fake OEM look alike controller, but I did purchase a simple Reese brake controller off of Amazon. I mounted it below the location for the factory brake controller, plugged it direct into the Ford brake controller wire harness and it works perfect. All in around $28.

Everybody is anti-China until they have to pay American made prices, then all of a sudden China isn't too bad. Even if the Ford part is made in Mexico the profits still go to an American company that employs thousands of Americans who's salaries put money back into the American economy.

I beg to differ on American made prices vs China.
Timken ball bearings I used to get them because always were American or Canadian made.
Last ones I bought couple months not knowing are China made and the price is more than the last American made ones I got a year prior.
Same thing with a/c part I got from NAPA. USA made drier was less expensive in the same box from the same company a year earlier than the China one.
