Anyone regret getting the 3.5 Ecoboost and wish they could trade for a 5.0?

Ah, come on, it's fun watching the old school guys defend motors from an era gone past. It's why Ford puts the 5.0 in the trucks. I can hear the marketing team meeting with engineering now: "Man you have to give us a V8, those old codgers are not going to go for a turbocharged V6 in their truck" Engineering "But the 5.0 doesn't do anything better than the Ecoboost motors" Marketing:"Overruled, we need to sell trucks to the curmudgeons"...LOL

The Chevrolet Corvair Monza and the Oldsmobile Jetfire were the first turbo-powered passenger cars, and made their debut on the US market in 1962/63. Despite maximum technical outlay, however, their poor reliability caused them to disappear quickly from the market.
^^^that the 1962/63 “engineering” you’re referring too? HiTech 3.5tt lol

If I actually thought the 5.0 was a better motor I would have purchased the 5.0. I don't think it is. I stand by my position that the 3.5EB is the best truck motor Ford has produced to date for a truck and that goes all the way back to the FE block motors that made the F150 the powerhouse it is today. The 5.0 is a great motor, it's just not better than the EB motors. The 3.5 has it on torque and the 2.7 has it on quickness and fuel economy.

Turbocharging has been around forever and then some. The technology Ford has put into the Ecoboost motors has not. Turbocharger reliability is proven in big diesel trucks with many hundreds of thousands of miles per truck. Turbocharger reliability is a non-issue.

“The technology Ford has put into Ecoboost motors has not”.
Please explain the new technology in the beloved Ecoboost I’m always willing to learn.
fuel injection- not new
Over head cam/cams- not new
2 turbos- nothing new there

and.. If I thought the v6' was a better engine I would have bought one. I drove both and decided the v6 was not what I wanted.. And think for a sec. IF v6 and turbo was *the* setup for full sized trucks, GM and Chrysler would have em too. But they don't. Look what GM is doing now, Aluminum bodies... like Ford, but no v6 turbo powerplants.

Hey guys,
Let's not compare an eco boost engine to an over the road diesel engine. The turbo designs are not the same. The engine designs are not even close to being the same. In all honesty the 5.0 and eco boost have more in common with each other than a diesel engine. Neither engine is better than the other. They will both be lucky to make it past 200k with out needing a full timing job done. Just enjoy your damn trucks.

I dont have any 'passion' for either/or but there are 2 main reasons I went 5.0
1. I want to keep my truck for 10yrs+ My gut says it will cost me less to keep the 5.0 running that long vs the ecos
2. I wanted to put a front winch on and the empty space behind the bumper is perfect and I dont have to worry about blocking the intercooler.
My friend bought a 2.7 eco and I dont think he made a bad call. There have been zero jabs back and forth about that. We mostly talk lifting and accessories. Im curious actually to see who wins in the cost to keep running for 10 yrs him or me.

It also seems Chevy may offer up something similar. They already have a 3.6L TT in the cadillac that would be a great competitor to the Ecoboost.
Its also funny you say that seeing as GM and Ram are losing market share to Ford right now with their V8 powered trucks.
Edit: whoops, seems someone beat me to the Chevy thing. I didnt realize the announce a TT V6.
