Default Anyone installed clear vinyl on their sport bumper?

I've noticed a few small rock chips on the front bumper of my '16 Sport. Has anyone tried the clear vinyl wrap over their bumper? Did you install it yourself or have someone else do it? I just ordered some 3M off of Amazon, I got a 12" x 96" roll. I'm going to install it myself hopefully and not waste nearly $50. Any tips?

My '13 body color bumper got so many chips and is now rusting from it. I am definitely considering this on my '18 Sport I am getting in the coming days. Let me know how it goes and post some pics.

Yeah the tiny rust spots in the chips is what I noticed on the truck when I went to look at it (purchased used last week). There aren't many, but I can see it becoming worse due to my commute on the interstate each weekday.

You may want to consider a 3M product like clear car bra in place of vinyl. It will hold up better, Hell it protects from getting keyed so rock chips should be no problem.

I ordered the 3M Scotchguard paint protection film. I should have been more specific.

I had the dealer install 3M when I bought the truck. It's on the bumper, the headlight surrounds and the front of the hood. Considering I'm on my 3rd windshield replacement from rock chips and my paint is still perfect, I'd say it's definitely doing its job and worth every penny.

You can't even tell it's there unless you look closely at the edges where you can see the edge of the film. Definitely get it, and have it professionally installed for best results. Since mine was installed, it has a lifetime warranty against punctures and bubbles. If that happens, they will remove it and reinstall a new film.

Thanks Boost - good to know. I've seen a couple of online places that sell the pre-cut kits, which I may add (headlight surrounds and hood) later. I'm going to try my hand at the bumper install and see how it goes since I've already made the purchase. I've put down plenty of vinyl in the past (I worked at a sign shop when I was younger), and from the videos I've watched, it looks like the same process. I might try to make a template out of parchment paper and pre-cut some of the openings as well. That way I don't have to cut with the film on the vehicle.

A big regret since i got my 18 sport was not doing the bumper like the guy said. He specifically told me ford bumpers are prone to chips and rust but i thought he was just trying to upsell. I got my truck in feb 18 and its already got chips.
