Default Anyone had push button start issues?

Yesterday I parked my truck and went to move it a few minutes later. When I grabbed the door handle but the doors didn't unlock. Strange, so I tried again and still nothing. I used the fob and unlocked them but when I tried to start the truck I got the "No Key Detected" message. I tried several times but kept getting the same message. Everything on the fob worked but it was not able to detect the key.

I called my service advisor, my wife..LOL, and while she had me on hold I pulled the back off the fob and fiddled with it a moment and then it started. It hasn't happened again. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I saw a video from a Ford website that indicated if this happens you can put the fob in the indention they use to program them and it will start.

Has anyone tried this?

Loose, misaligned or weak battery in fob?

you may have been near something that was interfering with the radio frequency. We have a fast food restaurant that has a video sign out front. It uses Arafat from inside to change. If I park near it the FOB won't function.

One time I had something similar happen. Truck wouldn't unlock from the handle, so I used the keypad. Then it said the same "no key detected" message when I tried to start it. After 4-5 tries (and maybe 1-2 minutes combined waiting) it fired up just fine.

Only has happened once in ~60 days of ownership.

I will mention that I opened up the FOB that I use and snipped the rubber bump off below the panic button so that button is disabled, but I did that weeks before this happened.

Mine does something similar where It periodically won't unlock until I use key pad or fob but even more strange once in, all is fine I can start the truck and drive a bit then dash warning will tell me no key detected.

Mine started doing this and the dealership ordered 3 parts, the modular, the antenna and harness for the Intelligent Access. It took a while to get the parts in because there were only 5 antennas in the whole USA, according to the dealership. But all is up and running. Got the door recall work done also.

Same here - first happened with my wife's pushbutton MKZ - the PennStation near me kills the keyfob for both it and my truck. Can't use it at all.

Have to put the keyfob in the cupholder for the emergency no-battery mode to get it to start when I park there....

I had this happen to me about 10 days ago. I was on my way to the airport for a flight and stopped about halfway there. When I came back to my truck the door didn't unlock when I grabbed the handle. (It seems I've had this happen before but it may have worked the 2nd or 3rd time I grabbed the handle...) Once inside I got a NO FOB DETECTED message on the dash. After several tries I used the remote start to start the engine. I pressed the brake pedal and hit the start button but still got the NO FOB DETECTED message plus the alarm went off. I was able to use the fob to stop the alarm. I finally thought about the recess in the console so I put the fob there. I can't remember if that immediately had an affect or not... I don't think it did... I think I ended up killing the truck (or maybe it killed itself after the alarm went off) and eventually I was able to get it to start and drove away. I was about 75-80 miles from the airport so I decided I couldn't kill the thing before getting to the airport parking lot or else I might miss my flight. When I got back a week later the truck started normally. I do remember, in the recent past, randomly seeing the NO FOB DETECTED message come on while driving my truck. I don't remember where I was to decide if there could be possible external interference or not. I 'm also wondering if the fob battery could be getting weak as it's about 2 years old - I'm going to change it just to be on the safe side. I've had a Corvette with a fob and start button for several years and never had an issue with it so I'm now leery of my truck...

This all has happened to me a couple times. And each time replacing the batteries cured the problem.

Have had my truck for 26 months now. Replaced the batteries for the 3rd time just a couple weeks ago.

It depends on the quality of the batteries you buy as well as how often you use the fob.

Agh, you too? The local Braum's renders my fob *inoperable*. Still starts OK once I'm in the truck, but I have to hold the fob up to the glass (and pray) to get it to work... or break out the key.
