Default Any high mileage 5.0 owners?

I just picked up a 100,000 mile '15 that runs excellent. It is just broken in in my opinion as our last 2011 had close to half a million miles.

Any folks out there with high mileage V8s? Any major repairs to date?

Mine isn't high mileage but from what I've seen, like their predecessors the 3.5 Ecoboosts as well as the 5.0s can be prone to cam phaser issues as they age. Make sure you change your oil regularly!

I bought a used 2016 5.0 with 89,000 miles. Aside from all the maintenance to make a used car reliable, i had to tear down the front end to replace a phaser. I redid all the timing components while i was that far in there. It drove great for a month, until a phaser solenoid got sticky. Swapped that out today and she's running smooth again.

I love this truck, especially when she's running well .

115k on my ‘15 5.0 Lariat. Runs like it’s fresh off the lot.

Exterior looks perfect as well except for spots that are my fault.

No squeaks or rattles in the interior.

Only chronic issue is a little shaking above 80 mph.

Is lack of oil changes the culprit for the rough idle issue?

The problematic V8s are 2018+, due to the new cylinder coating (instead of liners). But Mustang 5.0 owners don't have that issue, which is weird, since the engines are different, but the block and coating is reportedly the same. Strange. I was expecting to find a similarly long thread about oil consumption, and there's nothing to be found.

My father's 2014 5.0 is north of 160K and running fine. Only repairs so far were a fuel pump (just died, driving down the road) and replacing one of those infernal quick-connect coolant hoses that's known for leaking.

I had that issue on my 2006 5.4 but wasn't aware 5.0 even had a similar VCT set up.

My 2016 has 108,000, bought new with 5 miles.

No issues at all engine wise. Had to have rear end rebuilt at 60K. Only on second set of tires and still original factory brakes.

Changed oil every 10k, and did the 100k maintenance myself. Very solid and reliable truck for me so far. Still gets better than 20 mpg on highway. Lifetime average of 18.5 mpg.

I like it so much that I am looking for a 2016-2017 5.0 as a third vehicle to replace my aging and rusting Tahoe.

Not to start a debate in this thread about it, but considering mustang owners generally aren't having oil consumption problems lends some credibility to ford's assessment that it's not an issue with the new lining, but that it's a software issue on the truck that's causing a condition that allows oil to seep into the cylinder and get burned. I burned 2 1/2 quarts on my 2019 5.0 before the first oil change, had the TSB and an oil change done at 7400 miles,, and in 2000+ miles since that my oil level is steady. I know not everyone has experienced that and I'm going to continue keeping an eye on mine, but I do feel a lot better about it. I believe ford when they said they analyzed a bunch of engines they replaced and found no internal or mechanical issues contributing to the consumption problem - which makes sense since most guys that had their engines replaced had consumption issues on the new engine, too.
