Default Antenna replacement?

I’ve got a stock radio antenna on my 2016 XLT and I get a lot of “acquiring signal” pauses on Sirius. Something we don’t get on my wife’s Highlander. I don’t have a shark fin and wiring one into the roof sounds like a real pain in the buttkus. Is there a replacement antenna for the existing antenna (front quarter panel) mount that will do a better job of picking up Sirius?

Hmm my front quarter panel antenna is radio only, the sirius radio is on top of the truck.

I think if you look above passenger head on the roof you will see the antenna. You might make sure you have the latest update available for your sync, there is a Ford website you put your vin# into.

In some areas with tall buildings and hills, drop-out happens each time in the same areas, during travel.
Nothing can be done about this.
But having your Antenna down in the area for regular AM/FM can adds to drop-outs.
Not the Place for such an Antenna that has to see a Satellite signal, line of sight.
AM/FM is not looking for a Micro-Wave Satellite signal from the SKY. It receives its signals ground wave 99% of the time.
I have a flat antenna on the Cab Roof for Satellite reception and still get dropouts during travel, always in the same areas and just expect it since nothing can be done about it. It's only a few seconds, each time.
Stopped under Bridges can result in the same thing unless some other Cars', movements, reflect a signal your Antenna is able to intercept.

Good luck.

You do, but you probably can't see it from ground level. It's a low-profile teardrop-shaped blob on top of the passenger side cab.

Default Found it!

I don’t spend a lot of time on the passenger side, so I never saw the little antenna on the roof. Found it, though. Next I’ll check for a sync/update. Thanks, guys!!

I drop out for a moment sometimes going under wide overpasses. I've found dense overhead tree cover can block the signal when wet. Many cities with tall buildings downtown have a terrestrial transmitter that allows reception in the concrete canyons. Even some tunnels have them.

When XM first came out years ago, they warned that like analog cell service, springtime blooms of Bradford Pear trees could degrade service. Since every landscaper sticks those trees in every job, we had quite a time getting signals on our original shark fin antenna!
