I have had mine for almost 2 years now....no power train issues.
Great engine very capable.

If you get one, get 3.55 or 3.73 gearing and stay away from April 2016 to Jan
builds on the 2.7 those are the ones having issues. Something was overlooked at the assembly line or bad batch of parts.

I'd like the 3.73 gearing for bigger tires at some point, but the 3.55 would be nice for better mpgs on the highway, which I do every day at around 70 mph...

2 oil pan leaks and possibly a third.

Had truck about 20 months now.

Make your own conclusions.
Dang, that's unfortunate. Cam phasers are no small deal either. Thanks for sharing. Do you know the build date?

Not off the top of my head I purchased in Sep 15, Apparently there have only been 3 failures but who knows if that's true??

I've had my 2.7 since Jan of last year, 15,000 km no issues. My father in law has had his 2 years, 30,000 km no issues. I have a 4x4 3.55 gearing. No complaints at all.

22k on my 2016 Lariat 2.7 screw. 10k of those miles are running a 91 Livernois tune. No issues and absolutely love the power plant.

It's really unfortunate for the bad production run (posted above) and I feel bad for the guys impacted by it - Aside from that there have been very few issues reported with the 2.7 and fwiw my opinion is this motor is going to prove itself reliable long term.

Default 2.7 reliability

This is the dipstick of my SECOND 2.7L ecoboost engine in less than a year and less than 14K miles. Got the first one replaced for oil consumption at 7,200 miles. I've put anywhere from a half to a full quart in it every 1K to 1.5K since getting it back. I haven't put oil in it in 1.7k this time. Took a picture that I'm getting ready to send to Ford when I drop my truck off at the dealership. (EDIT) The truck had been sitting for over 2 hours when I checked it.

Know your build date? I'm trying to figure out why some are so good and some are so bad...

My build date fell into the range of the oil consumption recall. August 2016. But this is a completely different engine in the truck now since they replaced it, so "technically" that shouldn't be an issue.

Yeah that's what I'm trying to figure out. They say that after about Jan 2017 build date the engines are good again, but I wonder if that really is the case. Maybe if I do go 2.7 I'll have to get a used 2015...
