Default Android Auto pair to 2017 Sync 3 without USB Cable

My galaxy S6 Android has a broken USB mini connector. I rely on wireless charging and phone is great. In order to pair the phone's "Android Auto" app, I need to connect the phone to the truck using the USB cable. Is there any other possible alternative not involving the cable?

I'm not aware of another method for using Android auto. I think the reason why it needs the USB cable is that SYNC essentially mirrors the phone screen and I don't think Bluetooth has a fast enough data transfer rate to allow that to work smoothly. Anyone else have some input?

Correct, Android Auto requires USB. Time to repair that one or get a new phone.

I rented a Sonata once that connected to android auto by Bluetooth and it worked great. Don't know why Ford is limited to the USB though. Unfortunate.

There is no wireless Android Auto. There's regular Bluetooth streaming, and streaming over Bluetooth via the Android auto app, but you're not getting AA on screen in the truck or car without USB.

I don't mind the USB streaming and the AA keeps my phone charged. So when I need the phone after a 4 hour drive it is fully charged ready to use instead of drained because I didn't want to hook up a cord.

if you go into settings there's a connect by Bluetooth option and it still has the Sonata saved as connected vehicle. I don't feel like renting one to prove this though lol

for long drives yes that makes sense but I work in the truck and am in and out of it all day so leaving my phone in my pocket was nice in the cars that did connect by Bluetooth.

You can still stream music BT just select it from the source screen under AUX input. I have been doing that for years on my cars and trucks.
