Sounds like it's your SYNC unit if you've tried multiple phones. Are you on the latest sync version?

Im actually scanning for updates now. I'm on 2.3 .Hoping the 3.0 update fixes it. If not I have 2 recalls I need taken care of anyway so to the dealer it will go. Just curious if this has happened to anyone else besides me .

My Sync 3, latest patch available from Ford, does the same thing when using Google Maps and it usually happens at night.

Surprisingly, the Waze app, does not do this.

Hmm. Mine doesn't do this with version 2.3 and a Google pixel. Have you tried re-setting the sync system?

i think it has something to do with the 3D modeling of the buildings.
waze does it for me here and there as well. I just updated sync to 3 from 2.3 so we shall see.

Is strange. My 16 is fine with Google maps on versions 2.0, 2.2,2.3 and 3.0.
Have you tried different cables?
When you take in for the recalls take a couple android phones with you.
