Android Auto
Hi everyone,
Just have my Truck for a week now and getting used to the technology. I have a feeling that My Android Auto is not functioning as it should. When I plug it in, I get the Android Auto screen up, with Waze etc, but I keep reading about other applications that should be available, such as WhatsApp, youtube etc. The only apps I see are pandora and google music
Can someone share a photo of what Android Auto should look like on these trucks

Android Auto is meant to keep your eyes on the road as much as possible. You are not going to see youtube or many 3rd party messaging apps in AA without some hacking or manipulating. I wasn't thrilled with it at first either but once I forced myself to use voice commands I got into it.
Android auto pulls apps from your phone to the screen. Do you have those apps downloaded to your phone? You can actually open android auto on your phone without it being hooked up to your truck. open the app. what it looks like on your phone is pretty close to what it will look like in your truck.

I have a samsung S9
any other ideas?
YouTube is not an approved Android Auto app, but YouTube Music is. They are separate apps on the Play Store.
Messaging apps won't actually appear in Android Auto as installed apps. That is, you won't see them listed like you will entertainment apps (podcatchers, other radio apps, and music players, etc.) But you WILL be able to send and receive messages. Whatsapp doesn't handle groups in Android Auto (at least not that I've figured out), but it's easy to send messages to individuals. ... Just say "Send a Whatsapp message to xxxxxxx."
When you receive a message you'll get a notification on the display, and AA will ding at you. You then have the option (or not) to listen to the message.

The developer has not yet added Android Auto support to Gaia GPS (though I see many asking for it on their forums). It is possible now that Android Auto supports alternate navigation/map apps. You'd have to reach out to the developer to request they add Android Auto support to their app.
Just an FYI - The easiest way to check AA compatibility is to launch Android Auto on your phone, expand the system menu, and select "Apps for Android Auto". You will be redirected to the Play Store showing all the apps that are currently compatible.
