Default Android 11.0 and wireless Android Auto

Anyone have this working yet? My phone just upgraded to Android 11.0 this week. It says it now supports wireless Android Auto, and also says 2017+ F150s should support it, but I'm still needing a USB cable connection to get Android Auto running.

I'm not sure 2017 plus model years support it, from past readings, only the 2020 and newer have the APIM to support wireless car play from either Apple/Android.

I believe it’s 2021 and up (Sync 4), at least for wireless CarPlay. Can’t say for android auto, but I would assume it’s the same.

I must be doing something wrong then because I can't get Android Auto to work wired or wirelessly in my 2021. It pisses me off.

I'm going to dig into it tonight and I'll post my findings.

Hi, I've been following this forum for a while, a lot of useful information, thank you to all the community members.
I had similar issue with my Pixel 3a Android 11, missing AA icon and could not connect by wire.
It is fixed now; this is what I did : I tried to connect my son phone (S10) that still has Android 10 and his phone connected right away. Android Auto is working flawlessly with his phone (using same USB cable that my phone could not connect). Then I disconnected his phone and plugged my phone and somehow Android Auto is working fine.

Make sure Android Auto, Google maps and Google are all the latest version. I've been through AA not working before. It got me working again.

But to be clear, your phones still require the USB connection to us AA, correct? My AA works with the wire, I'm just wondering if I should be able to use it without, which would be nice.

I updated Google Maps because it was the only thing needing an update. I have the Samsung S20+ phone. Went back out there to try it and neither one worked.

Has AA on your phone been previously paired with another vehicle? Sometimes uninstalling and reinstalling it and going through the setup process again will make it work.
