Default Ambient temperature reading

My truck takes at least 4 minutes to change the ambient temperature gauge when I start it in the morning. I was wondering if this is normal.

Seems comparable to mine. Doesn't react as quickly as my 07 did. I'm not exactly where the sensor is located but that is probably the difference from the 07.

It's normal. There's logic built in to prevent erroneously high readings after you have let your truck sit in the sun for 8 hrs at work, etc. It waits to let the sensor's temperature settle.
