Default All-around Camera

I thought I would like the all around camera system on our 2016 Platinum 6.5' SCrew. My wife's Infiniti QX60 jellybean SUV has one, and we love it because its picture is clear, and the field of vision is so wide that you can see the tires and the curb.

The F150's camera screen has that stupid rectangle graphic representing the truck, not the actually image of the side of the truck, so it still leaves you guessing on tight fits. By tight, I mean like how close can I get to the curb with out curbing the wheel/tire. You can't see it!

The yellow lines parallel to each side of the truck graphic are supposed to indicate the furthest extension of the truck, the mirrors. But the mirrors are pretty easy to look at to see if you're going to hit something! The yellow lines just obscure details.

Bummer. All the equipment is there for a truly great feature, but the software guys ruined it with screen graphics. Anyone else feel this way? Dare I ask if there are any hacks to enhance it?

I love the 360 camera and use it daily. Maybe it's because I've never had another system to compare it to, but it works great for my needs. I will agree, it's not perfect in regards to when the corner of the truck will hit something (my most common use), but it's good enough in combination with using the mirrors for my taste. Works great for me making sure I'm in the middle of a parking spot as well.

Love it probably the #1 reason I bought a Lariat. IMO a lariat without 502A + Tech Pkg just doesn't make sense.

I will agree with you, I hated it. Its cartoonish. The bmw system is WAY better. I assume its probably the same as your Infiniti.

Personally, living in the city, I found the front and rear parking sensors are the best piece of technology (assuming they are functioning correctly). Because like you said, I can see down the side via the mirror.

Sorry if I offended any of you guys who like it, don't ever drive an Infinity QX or BMW! It baffles me why they would spend the time and money to develop the stupid graphic, when the actual images of the sides of the truck functionally superior and already there.

I admit the front and rear cameras are great, but rear cameras are pretty common, no big deal there.

That being said, I like this Platinum way better than the Infiniti. I think the only thing it doesn't have is active braking for side traffic when backing up. And I like the F150 active lane assist which steers you back a lot better than the Infiniti's method of braking on the opposite side to pull the vehicle back into the lane, because it also slows it down! When I get time, I'm going to do an F150 vs QX60 post

Did you not try it before you purchased the truck?

Looks like the SuperDuty version of the 360 camera system is going to be better. It blends the images together instead of leaving the lines in between each image.

I really wanted the technology package when I was looking for my truck then settled for the 20in sport wheels instead. After using the 360 camera system a couple times with vehicles on the lot I am glad I don't have it. The rear view camera image is too small when it splits it down the middle, rear view on left and 360 on right.

Although like most things im sure you get used to it after a while..
