Default Still cant break 17

2015 F150 Lariat 3.5 4x4.

Im at 6500 miles and I cruise at 75 on the highway for 300 miles and still was at 16.8 MPG. So far VERY displeased with the MPG on this truck. What happened to 20+ on these things? Drove from El Paso to Midland and back. No weather nor noticeable wind. Tempted to unlplug the batter and try to do a reset on the computer. I bought the truck with 2k miles (dealer demo) so maybe the tranny has some bad education?

Any ideas?

I am waiting for the Roush Power Pack for these things to do a CAI and Tune via the dealer... Ive been running 88 Octane. I bumped it up to 91 on this trip and still no improvement. I havent checked the PSI on the tires. They are at whatever they dealer set them to. They are the 20" Wheels.

I am getting 16.8 driving around the city like a grandpa.

Are you just going by what it says on the dash or are you configuring it on your own when you fill up? Seems like what the vehicle says you're getting is always off a mile or 2 compared to what you're actually getting.

Driving over 65 is bad for gas mileage

Most EPA is at 60MPH they calculate that you get a 5% decrease for every 5 you go up or something like that. I put my 2.7 at 60MPH and I get 24-25

Yes, reset Trip 2 for the highway trip. Going 65 heading out of town I was getting about 17.9 but as soon as I was out of the county and the speed limit was 80 (I only did 75) it slowly dropped back down the the 16's.

So you're one of those that doesn't do the speed limit.

This. I have a 4x4 3.5EB crew with max tow & mirrors and on a recent 4 hour trip I kept it around 60-65 and got 21mpg. If I drive at 75+ the mileage plummets.

Considering I came from a Frontier that I'd be lucky to get 18.5 with under the best circumstances, I'm pretty happy that my much bigger new truck that can tow twice as much gets almost 3 mpg better.

You're not driving as though you were establishing the mileage. This is the criteria on how the mileage was determined:

Highway cycle
  • Trip length: 10 miles
  • Test time: 12.5 minutes
  • Number of stops: None
  • Time spent idling: None
  • Maximum speed: 60 MPH
  • Average speed: 48 MPH
  • Engine temp at startup: Warm
This does not take the acceleration to achieve the speed, and ethanol fuel is not used. On average, 10% ethanol content will decrease mileage 10%.
