Default Air Shutter Delete???

Good morning all! I have a 2015 f150 with the 3.5 EcoBoost motor. My active air shutters that are in front of the intercooler are making a constant clicking noise, and seem to operate erratically. Has anyone deleted these shutters, and if you have, is there any negative repercussion or fault? TIA!!!

You can just unplug the shutters if you want. No light or code. You might try and figure out why it's clicking. I had mine unplugged for awhile. I then found out the shutters are open all the time if you are running the a/c.

I've had mine out, totally removed, for about 4 years now. I think the only place you'll see an error is if you look in forscan. You will not get a CEL or anything on the dash.

This is for the upper and lower shutters.

Make sure that you delete all of the shutters. The most "Amazing" piece of engineering on this truck is the license plate holder, which sits directly in front of the intercooler. I remain deeply confused about how anyone determined this to be a good or even acceptable idea, but there it is. As for the "intentional" shutter, I would look at removing the blades/vanes and leaving the motor alone. I haven't done this yet, but several folks have and as long as the motor thinks that it's doing something, the truck remains blissfully ignorant and never throws a code anywhere (kind of like the resistor plug sounder delete on the PB).

You can remove the shutters without any problems. There will not be a Check Engine Light but a DTC will show up if scanned because the PCM won’t be able to communicate with the shutters. It is easy to do mechanically. Remove the front bumper and remove the screws that hold the shutters in place. You may need to remove some trim to access the screws on top of the shutters.

Weren't the shutters part of the fix on the Ecoboosts to prevent condensation forming in the CAC? You guys down yonder seem to be getting away without the shutters, not sure if us northern guys can. Just a thought.

Yes and yes. 15% humidity helps to control the humidity.

sounds like it's skipping a tooth on gear or something. Maybe something is stuck... have you tried to move it manually?
