Curiosity, does the fan do the same thing when the heat is on?

I thought you said you didn't have auto climate control? According to the picture you posted you do; Auto is written on the driver's temperature ****.

I haven't had a vehicle with automatic a/c so modern, I had no idea they lower the fan speed during calls, that's pretty neat!

In the manual vehicles, you are also just putting in a request, or the truck couldn't set the temp to 72ºF when you remote start it. Would also mean a different fan control switch, which would cost more to produce.

I do have auto climate control but I don't ever push the auto button because it's usually just so hot it always stays on 60*

That's not how it works. If it's 95 outside set to auto and 70 degrees it would to the same thing you're doing with it manually at 60. Turning it down to 60 won't make it blow any colder. If the truck is hot inside the system will try to cool it down as fast as it can to the set temperature. If the truck is parked in the sun and 120 degrees inside the system will choose the coldest setting and maximum fan speed whether it's on 70 or 60. The fan will start to slow down as it reaches the set temperature.

Best part of auto systems is if you choose a temperature such as 70 when you get to the time of the year with cool mornings and warm afternoons the system reacts accordingly. Startup in the cool morning and it will give you heat. As the cabin and outside temp warms up it will automatically reduce the temperature of the air and change air flow direction until you are in full air conditioning. The cabin remains the same temperature without you touching one button.
