So I recently upgraded to iPhone 15. What a pleasant surprise it was to find that none of my existing chargers work throughout the house. Even better, they don't give you a charging block anymore with the phone.
All that aside, I also can't plug my phone into my USB outlet without using an adapter. Seems like a simple enough solution, I know, but the adapter is incredibly loose, and the length of the entire getup doesn't allow me to close the cubby door without knocking the plug loose and then I have to get it positioned just right to work again.
I have a hard-wired phone cradle and use my truck to charge my phone daily. I need this system to work like it did before. Has anyone added USB-C outlet before? I'm not looking for just power though. I want it to still integrate with my radio. Wireless car play is not an option because of my autotec head unit.
Why wouldn't you still be able to use the same adapter you have on there and buy a USB-A to USB-C cable? Assuming you currently have a USB-A to Lightning cable on there. I have the same phone (iPhone 15) and I use a USB-A to USB-C cable with my 2020 F150 and it charges/connects CarPlay to my truck just the same as my old iPhone 12 did. If you need a smaller adapter or the adapter is crapping out, they make USB-A to USB-C adapters that are super skinny and you could just use the USB-C to USB-C cord that came with your phone.

I bought a USB to USB-C cable off Amazon, braided, a pack of two were something like $8. Made by Anker.
There is still a ton of stuff that is USB out there.
I found the older non-braided Apple cables got worn out pretty quickly, the new braided Apple cables are much nicer. But, the Anker is much less expensive and work great.
@KennyCJR This worked perfectly, thanks again! I found the part on Amazon. Not sure if that's a good thing or not, but it works for now. Didn't know the ring around each plug lights up a matching teal blue, because my factory unit didn't. Added bonus for no one to ever see!
This also got me thinking, is there a direct USB-C plug and play replacement for the two standard USB outlets on the rear of the console for the backseat passengers?

I’ve never heard of one, but the newer trucks might have what you’re looking for. That would be a nice upgrade.
Also, be aware that the C cables have different ratings for charging speed and the only port capable of providing the higher voltage is in the console storage box (at least for 2020 center console trucks).
