If you pull the panel below the steering wheel off you should be able to see if the plug is in the change holder. Might have to unbolt the metal cover under that panel to see, but you shouldn’t have to tear the whole thing apart like when you install it.

I just did this this last weekend and its super easy. I think if you have the 7 pin harness and have the tow package the plug is for sure there.
