Default Adding Tow Mirrors...

Hello, 2017 XLT with standard powered mirrors. Just bought a travel trailer and need Tow Mirrors.

Any suggestion on a good product to look at and the ease of doing the swap would be appreciated!!

How much do you want to spend? You can get the JZSUPER mirrors on amazing for a little over $200. Power, heat, puddle, turn signal and running lights are all standard. I’ve had these for an over a year and I think they do the job just fine. Towing 3000 miles was a much better experience.

Or you can go with BoostAuto for around $500+ which are a higher end mirror.

Then you have oem that are super expensive.

All are super easy to swap and plug in play unless you’re trying to add features you don’t have. Otherwise, they really couldn’t be any easier to swap.

You can check Marketplace or EBay for oem take offs. Bought a nice set of OEM for my 2013 on Marketplace. They were $250
for the pair. Had heat, turn signal, and puddle lamp.

+1 for the JZSuper on Amazon. In my third season towing with my 2018 Scab STX. No wind noise, no vibration. I think it's the best bang for the buck.

I have the boost mirrors and really like them. I did an install video/review of them. I've had them for about a year now and use them for towing my snowmobile trailer. I'd say they are or are almost OEM quality.

All the Boost owners like them. I went with the JZSuper ones and am pleased three years later. Other brands were panned for vibration and wind noise on this forum.
Key to the mirror features are what you are replacing and whether they use an 8 or 22 pin connector. 22 pin is used for power extension, power folding, puddle lights, running lights. 8 pin supports heated main mirror, normal power mirror function, and turn signals. You need the rear window defroster button for the heated mirrors to work.

Note: You might want to look through the Tow/Haul forum for a lot more info on Towing mirrors. Even install pics.

I liked them so much, I swapped them out! I did not know that I could add the autofold feature, I simply did not look and assumed that if I did not have that feature to start, I could not add it, my big mistake. So, I got basic replacement tow mirrors, the same as I had, but tow version.

I then looked, found my error and reached out. With a reduced restocking fee, they allowed me to send back my mirrors and get the ones I want. So, I have the autofold coming with the sequential turn and run option. I did not think the autoextend was worth $200. more. I also added defrost top and bottom.

You’ll have some door button additions and a wiring harness change, if you have the 8 pin to start with.
Power folding tow mirrors is a wish list item for me. Getting out and folding them in at the car wash is a PITA and carefully snugging up to outgoing mailboxes at the post office sucks!
