Power running boards are like anything else mechanical... preventive maintenance keeps them running smooth . Don't know if a person can add the feature after ordering from factory ... but one can always try . Love mine
If nothing else buy some after you truck is delivered

 

since he made this post 4 years ago, posted 6 times, and hasnt been on since Sep 2018, he either got scared away or never got his F150.

But, power running boards are some of the best money ive spent for both functionality and looks.
