I have a stupid question.

Let's say I install this kit and go up to my locked '18 STX . Do I hit unlock on the keyfob to unlock the cab and then hit lock 3 times to start the truck. Won't the first press of lock relock the truck?

Now how do I turn off the truck since it started without a key in the ignition.

TIA

With the 12volt remote start, you press lock unlock lock amd the truck starts locked. You have to go into the truck and put the key in, turn it to on, then back off to turn it off. But you can keep the truck on when you want to get in and go.

Thanks but I guess I'm not understanding the benefit of this kit if I still have to use the ignition/key to actually drive the truck.

lets you warm the truck up if you are in range.. lets you keep the truck warm if you are running into dunkin donuts..etc .. lets you keep people inside the truck warm if you have to run back in the house.. also puts less stress on the key turn.. you are not cranking the truck anymore.. you are just turning it on.. at the end of the day if none of these benefit you.. then remote start is not for you.. physical key or remote key.. you are still going to have to put the car/truck in the on position ..

i wouldn't write him off just yet.. might be his first remote start vehicle based on the questions he is asking .. sometimes ignorance can appear to be stupid .. remember remote start only started becoming main stream recently

Thanks, I simply wanted to know if this unit also performed keyless start and drive. (as in press a button vs turning a key). And it does not.

... and stupid people that whine about a question then leave a stupid answer vs. simply ignoring the thread.

.
no but i saw some forum discussion on retrofitting push to start on a key system and from what i understood with the keyless entry in the doors it was very costly .. i can't remember if it was @2016BoostedGreyGoose but you can PM him and ask him he might know more or @OCMike they are pretty knowledgeable into the depth of that stuff

Yes, a push button start and drive retrofit was what I was interested in if it was cheap and easy. It sounds like neither of those.

Thanks for the reply!
