Default Adding padding to driver seat Platinum

Anybody add padding to their Platinum leather driver seat? If so, what did you do, how much did it cost, did it work for you?

I bought my truck used with 42K miles. I didn't notice it during the test drive but within a week or two I realized the seat was terrible. My lower back would lock up after an hour in the truck. Felt like I was sitting in an open 5 gallon bucket.

Took it to my local upholstery shop. Got the owner to sit in the seat and he said "that's terrible!" I said "Awesome! Now you know what the problem is, make it right." They added some padding to the seat base and it's a lot better now. Charged me $120 cash.

I've owned the truck about 3-4 months and now I realize the seat back is also lacking padding. Not sure if the previous owner was really heavy or sweated a lot or what, but I've never had seats this bad in a vehicle before. It's really noticeable when switching from the driver seat to passenger and back. So now I need to take it back to my upholstery guy and have him fix the seat back as well. Not concerned about the cost, just need the time to get it done.

Thank you for that informative response. One question I should have asked was how long did it take for the upholster to do the work? Same day? Leave it over night?

For only $120 he sure wasn't going to have a crew working on it for 2 days.
They had it a few hours. I did drop it off the night before only because it was more convenient for me.

I put sheepskin covers on my leather seats, helped quite a bit for comfort. Will try adding some foam later between the covers and seats if I need additional cushioning.

My problem with the seat is that I am short and mine are manual adjust. The seat cushion is little high for my comfort. I'f it had power seats, I could lower the front of the seat cushion. Also the way the seat back is angled, my back only makes contact about half the seat back height and my upper back is not supported. Basically, the upper seat back and the headrest area are about 8 inches behind my upper back and neck area.

My old Tahoe has the comfiest seats tho.

Exact same problem on my '19 Platinum Screw with 5,000 mile on it. Looks just as bad as yours OP, and the arm rest even falls open sometimes when driving. Just brought it to the dealer in CT and they are taking pictures and submitting to Ford. They agree that it is not right, but said not to hold my breath though. Ford is notorious for saying that nothing is wrong with it and make you try to fight them....which you will never win. I also have a poor fit of the leather cover on the rear seats, with the leather all bunched up and wrinkled - and that's with no one ever even sitting in those seats. Ford already refused that as defective - even though the pictures of the leather on their website show the leather perfectly smooth. Unfortunately, Ford still makes the best truck at this point so we are stuck with this kind of stuff and they don't have to do anything about it. Eventually, Ford will begin to lose customers. I truly hate Ford as a company but no other truck compares....yet...until Ram works out the first year kinks on its new truck (which is technologically superior) or Chevy figures out how to beat Ford.

BTW, OP with the armrest open on my truck, you can see excessive bunching of the carpeting material on the seat portion behind it, which I think contributes to the armrest not closing fully. How is it behind your armrest?

This is exactly my issue. I don't feel like my back makes contact at all with the upper seat back. I feel like that padding "bulge" is too high.... Were you able to find anything to help with this? Some sort of seat and back pad?
