Typically the switches has 2 settings each direction. Half way is tradition, second step is one touch. I would like the rear to do the same thing as the front. I would imagine that the switch would need to be changed in addition to some programming. Who is taking apart the switches to install, any takers?

Honestly, I’ve pulled doors apart and put them back together fairly successfully a few times over the years. If it’s just a matter of getting two more single bank, 4 position switches (like the single in the passenger front door) and putting them in I’m going to do it once work slows down. That’s what got me to start this thread, looking for answers of feasibility and practicality. Sounds like it’s feasible now, not sure about practical though lol. Still want to push ahead. Just wish I had concrete answers.

btw thanks for saying you’d like the rears to function this way too! Was beginning to think I was being ridiculous

Btw I appreciate all the feedback everyone!
Personally, you will have a hard time with the OEM equipment. The passenger door switch is connected to the module, when you touch the switch, it tells the module what you want to do to, the module then tells the window to go up or down. Since the switch is hooked to the module, it doesn't have to carry the electrical load, so I would not be using that one to control the rear window. The rear door has no modules to start, you would have to do whatever wiring changes, I'm not even sure if you will get the module to even function, the truck probably will not recognize the modules or may confuse them with the front door modules. It looks like the front motors are different from the rear, mainly the front have "hall effect sensors" and the rear don't. Those detect the motor load, probably what keeps the window from crushing whatever happens to be in the way of the window. Buy the add on kit and save yourself a lot of headaches and hopefully it can be used with the Ford wiring.

I did a search back in the threads for "one touch", no one has done this, or at least come back to say they did it and their are several threads asking this same question.

If we can get confirmation that the front motors DO have hall sensors and feedback to the control module, that would be significant. If the control module does not sense load, we would need to swap the rear motors for front motors as well.

Installing an aftermarket controller on the rear windows will be straightforward since there is no control module. You need 12V and ground, and splice into the existing wires. If shops were having difficulty installing these modules into F150's, we'd have heard about it, there would be posts inquiring about the issue.

First, thanks for all of the input guys, I appreciate it. I’m going to go to ford tomorrow as it’s conveniently near Costco. I don’t think I’m going to get any further concrete answers, but it’s worth a shot. I’d obviously prefer an OEM solution, and I’ll report back what I find.

Anyone ever get anywhere on this? The 2013 Lincoln I traded in for my Platinum had all 4 one touch up/down windows and it was definitely nice!

Haven't had the chance to pursue it any further as of yet, work has gotten busier, didn't anticipate that. So, in the meantime I'm in a holding pattern. Still want to make it happen though.

Anyone can still install an aftermarket module since the rear windows are under direct control of the switches. A momentary press prompts full open or close, and the module detects current change to determine when the limit has been reached. Press for more than 1/2 second, the window stops when you release the button. This is for DEI modules (AKA Viper, Python). You only have to access the driver's door to install the module.

Directed 535T Directed 535T

We use to install Twindow modules back in the 90's on cars all the time that did this. Looks like they're no longer around but the 535T should do the same thing. Nice to have the option of rolling them up with an alarm as well if you have one.
