Default Adding the NAV option.

I just bought a 2016 Lariat (500A option) and loving it. I didn't think I would mind but I'm kind of missing the NAV option. Is this an option that can be added afterward?

I think so, as far as I know, it's a module added to the receiver. You mean the 501a, right? With sync 3?

No the window sticker said 500a. I do have the Sync 3 as this comes standard with the Lariat.

As far as I know, it's just a plug in module they plug onto the back of the receiver. I may be wrong, but pretty sure it can be done. I'm sure you can get it cheaper, but, ebay has one.

Thats them hacking it to add the license to the APIM. If Ford flashes it, the programming is gone.

I'd say get one from a junkyard that has it from factory, it'll be much cheaper and wont get whacked if the APIM is flashed. There are certainly much cheaper options than those guys.

If I am not mistaken, I think the hardware is already there. The dealer would need to activate it, add it to your touch screen interface, install the license that you would need to purchase along with the maps SD card.

Some users here were able to do it with FORscan when it was first being used before the website to get the license was blocked. It was a matter of changing settings on the APIM, installing the license and buying the maps SD card.

Thats Sync2. Sync 3 is totally different hardware and software. There are no SD cards on Sync 3. The software is loaded on the APIM.

Also wondering the same thing for my 2016 f150. Are there any map apps that are compatible with sync 3 that could work without the hefty price tag?

Android Auto, and Apple Carp lay, through your smartphone. But a update, and hardware is required whenever Ford finally releases it.
