Are these two separate parts? Are you saying you did a 4 to 8 inch conversion to a Non Nav APIM and now want to add a Nav APIM, or are you saying you upgraded to the 8 inch with a Nav APIM and your Nav doesn't work? Did you get a GPS antenna to plug into the APIM? If you just need an antenna, search Amazon for "ford gps antenna" and pick any of the several options with a blue connector. Plug it in and mount the GPS puck. There are several Youtube videos of folks showing where they mounted it.

For my 2015 Explorer did not come with navigation, I just bought the map chip and unlocked the navigation using forscan. I would guess you just need to search around Forscan for the procedure for this model to get it functioning.

If your picture in the first post is of your 4" APIM, the round connector on the lower left would be where the GPS antenna plugs in. So if you unplugged a connector from that on your 4" APIM, it'd plug in on the same spot on the 8". You shouldn't need anything additional if your truck already has the antenna.

Sync 3 doesn't operate the same as Sync 2/MFT. Every APIM for Sync 2 had Nav that just had to be enabled, Sync 3 is an additional chip/hardware and software so it requires an APIM swap.

Have you or someone else programmed the new APIM to your truck? Or are you asking how to program the APIM to your truck (junk yard pulled APIM and sent it to you)?
If the APIM has been programmed to your truck, use FORScan and focus on 7D0-01-02 xXxx xxxx xxxx You probably have a zero in that field (upper case X) in your original APIM. Change to a 2 to enable GPS in a GPS capable APIM (see Livnitup's FORScan spreadheet).
Also, check 7D0-03-01 xXxx xxxx xxxx This is for the GPS antenna. If you have an XL truck, you probably don't have a GPS/Sirius antenna (do you have a black antenna on the roof above the passenger seat?), so you'll have to purchase one on Amazon. Probably under $20 (see previous suggestion from barrytone above). I'd think using a value of 1 would work with a GPS antenna from Amazon.

If your APIM has not been configured/programmed to your truck at all, I'd start with getting your original APIM values with FORScan (or from the Ford web site), then use Livinup's FORScan spreadsheet to review for any necessary changes (like the non-NAV to NAV as I listed above)
Net is, you probably need FORScan to be able to enable NAV and ensure the vehicle knows it is in the APIM. Hope this helps get you going in the right direction.
