Default Adding Factory Navigation After The Fact

Hey, I'm looking to pick up a 2015 F150 soon and have found one with just about everything the wife and I want. It's an XLT SCrew 4x4 302a with the Sport Package. I know that I can have an upholster add leather but the only other thing it is missing is the navigation. Can this be added later by the dealer? It has the 8" ford my touch screen in the dash. Would I be able to buy everything that comes with the "Voice Activated Navigation" package and have them add it to the existing 8" touch screen? Or, is this going to involve having to buy an all new head unit/ touch screen?

Thanks for any help guys

Wasn't the navigation used by the SD card slot? I assume the head unit has a antenna already installed?

I would think there would be a lot of retrofitting and swapping out of parts. For example my 2007 Mustang GT was built Job 1. Job 2 introduced the navigation system for the first time for the mustang. I know a lot of people that tried swapping the unit out and it never worked right because there was no speed sensor etc. to keep the nav going during low signals or no signal in a parking garage, etc. I don't know if anyone on the Mustang forum ever got it working right.

My suggestion would be to order the way you want it with both leather and nav.

I bought the same setup and asked the dealer about this when I was buying and it can be done. I think it was an extra $800-1200 to do it but I can't remember exactly. I ended up not going that route but it can be done.

I would just get a stand-alone GPS and a nice mount...

Your truck is exactly what got me looking at an XLT! Awesome truck btw... The one I'm looking at is set up just like yours with the sport and Fx4 packages minus the lift and tires. Looks like your aftermarket leather interior turned out great from the pictures you posted... How did it turn out in person? Do you remember if adding navigation involved a new head unit or not? Thanks.

Thanks and the seats are great! They look really good and are very soft. To be honest I don't know if that price was for a whole unit or modifying the one in the truck already. I never got that far in the conversation. Good luck with your truck!

There is a very short list of people that can add Nav to any MyFordTouch device. What they do is get your VIN# so they can figure out what options your truck has. Then they get the As Built Data (ABD) from a similarly equipped model that does have Nav. They flash that data onto your APIM (the computer that controls your touch screen, mounted just behind it) and bam, you now have nav.
It's a simple concept but it requires some expensive software and cabling to do. The cheapest price I have seen for it is around $500-$600. Once more people figure out the process the price will go down.
