Default Adding Blis module

Has anyone bought led taillights for 15-17 trucks that didn’t come with Blis and added the Blis module. I have cracked both my tailights on my 15 Platinum and am looking for the cheapest way to replace my taillights without paying three hundred or so dollars each.
I’m trying to determine if the housing (light) replacements are shaped internally correct to accept the module and whatever screws hold it in, then I would really consider trying this. My Blis functions correctly at this point just have cracked taillights with small pieces missing.
I know if the new taillights don’t come with Blis that the radar type picture on the outside of them will not be on the new lenses.
I can take my Blis off and install on the new taillights. I am ONLY referring to Ford taillights. If this has been asked before please refer me to the right posts.

It's really hard to tell what you're asking, but if you're asking if you can swap your BLIS modules over to the exact same OEM housings that just don't have the BLIS modules, the answer is yes. The modules are removable, which means they can be swapped/moved to your hearts content as long as it's an OEM housing designed for BLIS. You can generally pick up OEM housings without the modules on eBay.
If you're asking about swapping the BLIS modules to non-OEM housings, you'd have to ask the vendor. If you're asking about swapping the modules to OEM non-BLIS housings, then no, they are not set up to accept the BLIS module (hence having a BLIS and non-BLIS model).

Default Adding blis

Yes was asking if my Blis would bolt into a non Blis led OEM ford taillight. I believe you said no.

Correct, the light design is completely different and there is no location for the BLIS module.

If you google search for photos of both light versions or check eBay listings (often a good place to find photos) you will see there is no place for the BLIS module. Research!

Default Thanks

That was the big answer. To my question, now I know. You have to have the correct taillights to put your Blis inside. Thank you sir.

Default Programming problem

Hi all, having a similar problem as others in this thread. I had to replace my bliss module as water got in and corroded one of the connectors so bad it broke off.

After installing the new one I attempted to program it as described above. The problem is that when trying to reprogram the sod module in FORscan the format of the data provided in the as built does not match the format when I try to program in FORscan. After loading the as built file I get a configuration mismatch error and can’t write any changes. Anyone able to suggest a solution here?

A few questions:
  1. What version of FORScan are you using?
  2. What year is the truck?
  3. What SOD did you buy? (Part number)
  4. How exactly did you get the As-built information and how did you write it to the module using FORScan?
  5. What exactly were the As-builts you orignially wrote to the module (line by line)?

I just went through this myself. Bought a 2017 F150 Platinum but both times I test drove it, the salesman started it up. Little did I know he was clearing errors off of the dash when he did that so I would not see them. When I picked it up the next day, did all the paperwork, shook hands, and got in the truck and drove off. at the first light i noticed two warnings flashing up about the BLIS not working. Oy. I have a warranty but I decided to drive it home and investigate. Tried to clean off the connectors on both the SODR and SODL units, no luck. But when doing that, I noticed the Right unit had a manufacturer date of 11/7/2022 while the left side was 03/20/2017. So clearly the right light assembly had been replaced, probably recently. And maybe, just maybe, the person who replaced it did not know how to get it working. Got FORscan and it showed me the B11D6 code on the SODR. Went to the settings on the SODR and sure enough, no VIN. it had never been paired to a truck. Pulled the factory settings, write them to ECU and it worked like a champ. The hardest part of this was dusting off one of my old Windows laptops and getting it working again so I could use FORscan on it.

Do you know what line needs to be corrected in FORSCAN to replace my VIN? I've pulled the as-built data but I'm not sure which line I need. Thank you.
