That part in the photo is the FCIM. If you swap it for another, there is programming for it. You have to match the programming of your truck to the FCIM your installing. The replacement FCIM does not have a snow plow, so that bit is turned off.

I thought after 2017, the higher level trucks went to a pad heater and got away from the TED I believe it was. But maybe they still run them through the modules, I have seen several times where it has been said they got the heaters to work so could never understand how it happened.

So, when doing the snowplow retrofit, I changed the FICM value in FORScan with the XLT cluster in the truck. When I swap the Lariat FICM in and just changed the switch on top, the FICM as-built value needs to be changed again? Do I understand there? I thought the FICM values were held elsewhere in a silver box somewhere, but I'm a country boy...

TLDR; If I swap in a replacement FICM, all FICM values I had programmed to the old one in FORScan would be gone, and the FICM vales in FORScan would now show the values held in the replacement FICM?

Every FCIM has its own settings. If you swap it with another, the settings you have in the old one go with the old one. So then you have to program the new one. Different model trucks have different settings on all modules. You can't take something from one truck and stick it in another unless they are exactly the same. Your lucky the only thing that wasn't working was the plow button.

Same here, but the newer FCIM should still work and may get the heat to work. I added the heated seats to my 2015, never had that before, I could never go back.

Will do... I thought the FORScan programming was held elsewhere, not in the actual FCIM. Will change it up when I get a few minutes and try again.
Thanks!

Default Possible heated seat fix

I just bought a 16 XLT 502A and did the auto climate control mod today. Seems like everything is working good except the heated seats as mentioned by everyone else on this thread. Because I live in Minnesota, I am not willing to accept the heated seats being inoperable. A portion of my background is in automotive electrical and comms and I have some analytical tools at my disposal to monitor the comms of my truck. My guess is there are technically 2 different module addresses on the bus for the heated and heated/cooled seats and when you change out the bezel, the address that it references changes also.

If my hypothesis is correct, the easiest fix that I can think of is to add a module on the bus (either via ODBII port or splicing wires) that would in essence regurgitate the same command directed at the heated/cooled seat address to the heated seat address. I won't have time this weekend to look at it as I have tons of family in town, but I would expect to start digging in sometime over the next 2 weeks.

Looking at the wiring schematic, it looks like using the ODBII port is not an option since everything there goes through a gateway (aka. communication firewall) and the only lines present on that pinout are the Powertrain bus and the ABS bus. If it is the address difference, the only workaround would be to splice in a module in the harness somewhere to relay the messages. The real question now is where is the best spot to splice in the module. If the moderate-speed bus is used, the module could go under one of the seats or in the dash (likely near the gateway). If the high-speed bus is used, the module would have to be in the dash and would either be near the gateway next to the ODBII port or the behind the center controls bezel.

Looking forward to what you find out.
